This resource unit provides a collection of engaging and instructive activities and demonstrations to help teach students the fundamentals of geology and to introduce plate tectonics and history of the Earth through creative learning activities. Units in the binder address essential topics like minerals, the three types of rocks, structure of Earth, volcanoes and earthquakes, plus unique topics like Famous Rocks (global) and BC geology.

In 2016 the Ministry of Education implemented of new curriculum guidelines in which these Earth science topics was spread over Grades 7 and 8. In the courses of presenting inservice workshops we have also discovered that many of the lessons are suitable for Earth Science lessons in higher grades. Thus, beginning with the 2018 print run, we have omitted any reference to grade level in the resource unit name.
